Emily, garde périscolaire - TQ9 Totnes

Hello my name is Emily and I am 31 years old. I have been caring for and looking after children for the last 10 years. I really love what I do, and have been incredibly blessed to work with families and children ranging from 5 months to 12 years old. In the last 4 years I have also been training as an Autistic therapist working individually with children, helping them understand the world they live in through play and exercises. I have been able to adapt much of this training and experience to all aspects of childcare.
Working with special needs children has developed my ability to assess exactly what the child needs and to preempt situations before they arise. The ABA training has taken me into nursery and primary schools where I have had to rely on my communication skills.
Communicating is also very important to me when working with a family whose children I am caring for, as it is not just the children I look after that need to trust me but the parents also. I pride myself on my ability to listen to what is being required of me and to blend into the family's way of doing things. I like to create a safe, fun and boundaried environment for the children I am looking after. But most of all I come with compassion and love. I am looking for part time work.
