I have worked with children for 4 years as an assistant dance teacher, which involved helping with problems, entertaining and looking after them all under the trust of the parent. I have worked with them from the ages of two years old to around eleven. I have done work experience in a primary school which involved helping with school work, listening to their stories, handling problematic situations and consoling the children if they were upset and needed comfort. I have also worked for a whole year to achieve the Young Sports Leaders Award. This required, both organisation and time management skills, along with on the spot improvisation if the lesson plan had to be altered. The award involved teaching small life lessons to groups of children as well as inspiring them through team work, challenging activities and fun games. During my final school year at Wirral Grammar, I participated in a Reading Recovery Program. We went to a training course to learn how to handle all types of children and situations, then consistently each week, went to a primary school and helped a child struggling to read. I built a bond with all the children I worked with, most hated reading at the start of the year and loved it at the end.
I am an extremely creative person, and enjoy making crafts, baking, reading, outdoor activities and with a fun imagination love to enthuse and entertain children's own imagination and creativity. I play the piano, guitar and sing, and love to compose and try to inspire kids to pick up an instrument because music is amazing. I'm a movie fanatic and a book worm (currently writing a book), and have experience reading a favourite book to a child over and over! For 5 years I was a member of the Brownies and Guides association, taking on creative and challenging activities. For the following 6 years I left guides to become a member of the boy scouts, moving on the Explorers and now Network. This involved a lot more physical activities and I had to prove myself to all the boys to begin with, that as I girl I still belong with the scouts. Being a scout means that I have 6 years of first aid training and awards in this area, so I am both qualified and comfortable in any circumstances in which I may need to use this. Including how to handle things like allergies, asthma and mental health, all of which I have experience with myself.
Overall, I love working with kids, being creative, having fun and teaching them. I have a very bubbly personality whenever I'm around children and always put their interests before anyone elses.
