In September 2013 I began a paediatric nursing degree, unfortunately the course was not as I had hoped and I left in March 2014. Since then I have been working as a part time post woman for Royal mail, I would however love to continue my real passion in working with children. I am the second eldest of 5 children so I am used to a busy household and familiar with the responsibilities of day to day family life. Due to complications after the birth of my youngest sister, I took on a lot of responsibility in caring for her for the first few years of her life. I am therefore very comfortable and knowledgeable in looking after newborns and understand the time and commitment they need. I also worked for a few months as a full time nanny to three children under 10 in London. My duties included sole charge of all three children and a family dog for large portions of the day as well as cooking healthy balanced meals, cleaning, ironing, washing, shopping, school runs, clubs, homework, bedtimes and everything in between! I thoroughly enjoyed my work as a nanny and learnt many of my cooking and organisational skills as a result. Although I do not have any children of my own, my boyfriend of 4 years has 2 children aged 5 and 12 that we see on a weekly basis and I thoroughly enjoy planning activities and adventures for us to go on.
At school I obtained 13 GCSE grades A*- C including maths, English, science and child development. Following this I took my A-levels where I achieved an AS level B in P.E and 3 full A levels, B grade in Textiles, biology and psychology. I also hold a first aid certificate for the emergency first aid at all ages from babies to adults. In my 6 months training as a paediatric nurse I learnt a huge amount about the importance of nutrition, love, fun, brain stimulation, physical activity and the physical and mental development of children. I feel this information has made me a more knowledgeable and well rounded young woman capable of looking after children and aiding in their development. Working on children’s wards, I have learnt the importance of letting children be children and feel their energy and excitement should be embraced and encouraged and every moment of their health and youth should be cherished.
My hours as a post woman are mon, wed, thur, sat 6.30am-2.45pm I will therefore be available from around 3pm onwards on the days (ideal for school pickups.) I also have all Thursdays and Fridays off so am available on these days for their entirety and am happy to babysit in the evenings on occasion. Due to my university course I have a full DBS check as of September 2013.I hold a full UK driving licence, have my own 5 door car and am willing to travel up to 15miles for a position with a family (possibly more if it will be for full days of care rather than just school pickups). Due to the fact that I have my own house and other work commitments a live-in position would not be feasible. Growing up we have had a huge variety of family pets, from dogs and cats to snakes and bearded dragons so I am very comfortable looking after any pets. I am a very kind hearted, trustworthy and reliable person and I would be incredibly happy to find a loving family to help out. I can provide a written reference from my nanny job in London as well as current and past employee references if you would like them. Please do not hesitate to contact me on either my mobile number or my email found at the top of the page if you have any queries or questions.
