Megan, babysitting à Madrid 28001

Hi, I am a British international student currently living in Madrid. I have experience working with children through babysitting, nannying and tutoring jobs. Childcare is something I am very passionate and enthusiastic about. I would also love the opportunity to teach children english if possible, as I am a native speaker it is a great benefit for families who want to improve the level of their children's language.

My most recent jobs were in retail at the weekend whilst I completed my studies during the weekdays. However, I have always tutored on the side and helped out with language classes at my old high school. With regards to tutoring I also completed tasks more commonly associated with a nanny. For example, I worked for several foreign families and would pick the children up from school. We would complete homework together and play etc. My main role was to only speak in Spanish to the children so they learned the language and I taught them grammar notes etc. We often went to the park or around the neighbourhood walking. I would say the most important aspect of my role was to ensure the children’s safety at all points whether it be holding their hands crossing the road or keeping them away from any dangerous items. Education was also very important I took an active role in helping them learn new things everyday and that is something I am very passionate about along with manners and respect for others.
I would love to be an au pair/ nanny to get back into child care. I love kids and caring for them and taking a step back from it this past 6 months to focus on my studies proved to me I want to pursue child care in some form, probably through teaching. I think teaching in a foreign country is also great experience and insight into the new culture in which I am living and I think teaching English to kids is such a valuable thing for them and something I am particularly enthusiastic about.
I cared for children in several families in my town in Scotland picking them up from school, taking them to extra curricular activities, making snacks, helping with homework and teaching them English. I also played with them and kept them entertained. In tutoring I taught children the school curriculum and guided them on their way to exams. In both jobs I tried to be there for them and show them emotional support and nourishment as they grew up or as they advanced through school.
