I am a newly qualified teacher specialising within the Early Years. I have developed great communication and leadership skills through my previous experience as a Jo Jingles class teacher as well as throughout my teaching practice. Music is something I really enjoy and is a strength which I feel enhances my teaching practice. As part of my PGCE I have undertaken small scale research into the ‘Parents and practitioners perspectives on Music and Movement programmes. And if there are any benefits of these programmes’, the findings of which will influence my approach to teaching in years to come. Reflecting back on my experiences, as well as the research I have conducted throughout my degree, I have developed a philosophy of teaching that I believe is best suited to me as a newly qualified teacher: play-based learning, building positive relationships and ensuring that all children’s voices are listened to and valued.
