Dear Host Family,
thank you for taking the time to read my letter.
My name is Nair from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I'm 35 years old (female), I'm a flight attendant experienced in domestic flights for an international airline and before that I've been developing costumer care related roles for the last 10 years.
In my spare time I enjoy playing the piano, teaching chess for children and also teaching english for young adults. I'm fond of outdoors activities, being with my friends, going for walks, visiting places I have not been to, and reading a good book specially in a rainy day.
My first language is Spanish, but I also speak fluently in English and I just starting to learn Italian as well. I'm a real language enthusiastic, I love discovering new cultures and people trough the way they express themselves, I can't wait to have access to native speakers!
I see myself as a person who genuinely cares about others, who is friendly, patient, honest, with an open attitude. Someone who can handle and value critical feedback, ready to help and anticipate the needs for others.
As far as my family and friends, I don't have kids or spouse at the moment, but life has blessed me with a big family here in Argentina, besides my parents and a younger brother, it's full of aunts and uncles, cousins, godfathers and godmothers, nephews and nieces! We all live in Buenos Aires mostly, and enjoy big family reunions all year around. Fortunately, I'm also surrounded by a very fun and loyal group of friends, some of them from school and college, and some of them from my neighbourhood, and of course, my flying friends from work.
I have never spent longer time abroad except from holidays and I know getting homesick it's a natural feeling to expect, however my passion and motivation for pursuing my dream I know can move mountains and thanks to nowadays technology I've be able to easily communicate with my loved ones. I also expect the first couple of days to be exhausting, trying to incorporate a lot of new tasks in a short period of time or just feeling jetlagged from the long flight, but thanks to my previous experience in aviation I got experienced in adapting very quickly to new work atmospheres in a fast-paced environment, so I'm sure I will easily adjust to the new routine and become a big help for you.
Living with me is really easy as I'm a very flexible and organized person. I was raised to respect the house rules specially in other people's home and I believe communication is key regarding any misunderstanding or cultural contrast it may arise.
When it comes to child care experience, I have looked after children in both formal and informal contexts. I provided after-school tuition to children aged between 5 to 10 years. I also organized for them and took part in recreational indoor and outdoor activities: we sang, danced, played games, role played, drew, painted, and narrated stories. We also visited the public library, the local animal park, went out on picnics and a camping trip. I can comfortably say that I sincerely enjoy spending time with children.
I now feel that I am ready for the challenging possibility of living abroad and getting to know a new family with a different and rich culture I could learn from. I am submitting my profile for consideration as I believe my skills and experience would prove extremely beneficial for your family!
I would be happy to have the opportunity to speak with you: to answer whatever questions you may have about me or my childcare experiences; to learn more about your family; your interests and to know more about what you expect from the au pair arrangement.
Thank you very much for your interest in my application!
I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely, Nair.
