Freya, garde périscolaire - LS1 Leeds

I am on my gap year in between my A Levels and University. I have spent most of my gap year so far volunteering at my local primary school in, mainly in years one and two but occasionally helping out in year four. While volunteering at the school a job opportunity arose covering for a teaching assistant in nursery and I got the job. I worked with children between ages three and four for five months.

I played with the children and made sure they enjoyed their time at nursery. I also comforted them if they hurt themselves or were missing their parents and made sure they were comfortable in their surroundings. I also helped them with their work and learning and I also supervised the children during lunch time and encouraged them to eat.

In the nursery, I supervised outdoor activities and messy play as well as phonics and reading. I also read the children stories and played make believe games with them.

During my time volunteering, I helped the children with their work such as spellings, maths, English and topic. I also supervised a few school trips and ensured the safety of the child.
