I am a 20 year old university student who last year, 2014, gained my HNC qualification in Early Education and Childcare. This allowed me to secure a place at the University of West of Scotland to further my study on to BA Childhood Studies.
Being a big sister of 3 younger siblings has given me experience of looking after newborn babies to children of a school age.
Having completed a work placement as part of my HNC in Early Education and Childcare, where I worked with children of primary school age, I now feel more convinced than ever that I wish to pursue a career in which I am able to contribute to the growth, learning and development of children. In addition to the enjoyment I experienced during this placement, I also gained an invaluable insight into the day-to-day life of a teacher as well as a variety of interesting and effective teaching methods. Also, as part of my placement, I was asked to organise activities for the children, primarily to help with improvements in behavior and concentration. As a result, I conducted a series of very successful yoga classes which the children thoroughly enjoyed.
As part of my university placement, I have carried out two 3-week placements in a South lanarkshire run nursery
