Ellie, baby-sitter à Halifax

My name is Ellie, I'm 20 years old, I am a friendly and hardworking individual, as well as punctual and reliable, and I have great communication skills with parents, carers and young children. I am fun, out going and easy to get along with, and I enjoy making people smile.

I am looking for a job that allows me to provide all of my qualities, and babysitting sounds like the perfect role. I have worked with children for around 3 years now, I studied Childcare CACHE level 2 at college for 1 year, and Childcare CACHE level 3 at 6th form for 2 years, and during that time I attended placement two days a week, working in a day nursery with babies, toddlers and pre - school, and a primary school working in foundation stage and KS1.

My role in these two settings involved working with a small group of children of about 4, and set up different activities and games for them to participate in. For example one activity I set up was a creative activity, I took a small group of children between the ages of 3-5 out into the garden to collect some twigs and leaves, they then came back into the classroom and created their very own collage from the items they had collected with supervision from myself.

Another activity I did with the children was phonics. Phonics is a way to help young children understand their letter formation. I held a picture card up to the child and asked them to tell me the letter and to write it down on a whiteboard. In order for a child to remember the letter, we used a rhyme for each card. For example for the letter "M" the rhyme we used was "Maisie, Mountain, Mountain". I had a few children struggle with their letters and how to write them so a few times I would hold their pencil with the child and trace over the letter until I though they could do it on their own, sometime it would work, other times not so much.

As well as attending placement two days a week, I also took the liberty to volunteer at Fountain Springs Day Nursery during the six week holidays to gain more experience on working with children.

I have also had experience babysitting for close friends and family.
