My name is Lindsey and I am currently enrolled in Kindergarten and Elementary Education at McGill University. For as long as I can remember, I have always dreamed of one day becoming an elementary school teacher. I would rush home after school as soon as I heard the bell ring, not because I was excited to leave, but because I had my students waiting for me at home! I would sit in my room for hours with my teacher’s planner in hand. As I walked around the outskirts of my bed, I would take attendance and approach each child (imaginary, of course) and see what special thing they were working on that day. I’m not quite sure who or what has influenced me the most. Perhaps my mother, one of the most influential and special people in my life (a teacher as well) or my passion and love for caring and helping children with all different learning needs. Being a student with learning disabilities has allowed me to understand that each person has a unique learning style, as well as their own individual strengths and weaknesses. I believe that it is the teacher’s responsibility to help each of their students’ grow as a learner and help them succeed in school. I am ready to become that teacher!
