Amelia, garde d’enfant - HD1 Huddersfield

My name is Amelia and I have been working with children for 6 years. I knew from when I was at school that I wanted to work with children. I went straight from school to college and studied 3 years in college. I studied both Level 2 and Level 3 children's care learning and development. I have always worked in a children's environment from college. I managed to gain experience working in both schools and nursery environments. Planning fun stimulating activities and observing children and linking it to the relevant curriculum. Also, looking closely making sure children are where they should be and identifying any areas of concern. I plan activities to teach and progress the child in all the areas of the development.

I am currently working in a family centre as a childcare practitioner and 1:1 support. I am looking for a job to become a full-time Nanny in a permanent position (live out) I love the idea of could work close with a small family so that I can give each child the learning, fun and support they need to develop and progress.

I have worked with children from birth to 14 years old. I have also worked with children with additional or special needs. I have worked with additional agencies to help support children such as NHS speech and language.

I am very creative, fun, loud, enthusiastic and extremely caring. I can be a big child myself. I love to really get involved in the fun with the children and provide learning opportunities through been involved. I have fun ideas to help develop children in all areas of their development.

As well as been fun and could interact with the children on their level I also can be firm and I expect and teach good manners. It’s about the child knowing that I can have fun and play but also at the same time they need to listen to me and respect me.

I have a genuine passion and love to work with and support children in their lives. I have been told by my current employer that I have a natural ability to engage with children and I have been told that it is very rare to find someone with those abilities.

I am reliable and flexible. I can self-reflect and adapt my practice to make it better. I am always enthusiastic for additional training and more learning to make myself at my job.

I have lots of hobbies and things I enjoy doing such as going to the gym. I love animals as much as I love children and love activities that are in place for children. Such as visiting places and learning. I love to be out and I think it is great for children to be out, it gives them the opportunity to learn and express themselves. Parks are great to help promote a child's physical development. I am always open to knew ideas and feel that the child's interests are extremely important.
