I think I would be an ideal candidate for the position because I am reliable and responsible. I have previous experience of working with children, this ranges from 0-11 years of age. While working as a trainee at Cygnets, I have gained a good understanding of the EYFS and have been responsible for my own key children. Important responsibilities have included creating suitable environments for the children to play in and supervising them. This has included monitoring them during: messy play, water play, outside play and arts and crafts. Other duties have included: putting the children to sleep, feeding them, helping to keep the nursery tidy and preparing food.
I also have excellent communication skills. Verbal communication skills were of vital importance when working as a Clinical Support Worker for Warwick Hospital. Working on the Bank meant I worked with different staff members each shift. Furthermore, the use of good interpersonal skills by creating a friendly and approachable atmosphere were of vital importance when interacting with the patients and their relatives. Excellent written skills are evidenced through the completion of an English Literature course at the University of Portsmouth. A course that has given me the opportunity to gain a wide vocabulary and an analytical approach to writing.
In addition, I believe I would be a good candidate because I can be flexible, working either as a team member or as an individual. Being flexible and undertaking both team and individual work was notable when working at Warwick Hospital. Clinical Support Worker’s would be given their own bay of patients to care for and would be expected to take the patients observations by themselves. Teamwork was essential when a patient was moved or cleaned, we had to work together to ensure the safety of both staff members and patients. Carrying out both individual and teamwork was also important at university. One of the assessment’s for my Holocaust unit was a group presentation. For the assessment to be a success we had to divide the workload and carry out individual research. Once the individual research was completed we came together as a group and created a PowerPoint presentation. The assessment was a success because we gave ourselves enough time to turn our individual research into a group effort.
I believe time management and organisational skills are another important factor that I would bring to the position. They are two skills I believe I portrayed while writing my 10, 000 word dissertation at university. For the dissertation to be a success time management was of vital importance. I had to research and write the dissertation while attending university and studying for my other units. The dissertation also gave me the opportunity to enhance my typing and research skills.
