Having no children of my own due to never being married, I have spent much time and energy doing volunteer work with children. I was a Girl Guide leader in Spark units, with 5 and 6 year old girls. In this capacity I put much effort into games, crafts and learning. i also volunteered with Heartland Forest doing similar tasks, quite often in outdoor activities. I also took part in Big Brothers Big Sisters. This involved quality participation with girls who needed personal time away from home doing activities with me such as time in my home cooking, playing games and whatever interests that were known to exist such as camping, fishing and more. I have kept in touch with many of the girls that i became involved with. For example, I still communicate and visit with one of the girls, now 48 years old.
