Hello! My name is Miranda and I’m an eighteen-year-old living in Panama. I recently graduated high school with an International Baccalaureate diploma and am taking a gap year before going to university in the United States. I was born in Venezuela where I lived for the first four years of my life before moving to Panama. I am the middle child to two brothers, one who is twenty and another who is thirteen, and I am the third oldest out of fourteen grandchildren. This means that I have been surrounding by younger kids my whole life, which has led me to naturally assume a caretaking role and master the art of controlling a large and chaotic group of kids. I have also worked in various summer camps and have been in charge of guiding large groups of children through activities, allowing me to develop the skills necessary to earn children’s affection and respect. My grandfather from my mother’s side is from a small town in Italy called Matrice, and it is thanks to him that I have developed an interest in all things Italian- the food, the culture, the art, the architecture, and the language. Many years ago I made it my goal to learn Italian and I told myself that at some point in my life, I would want to live in Italy. During the Covid-19 pandemic, I completed an online language course for which I would practice every day with the hope of using the extra time at home as an opportunity to get a bit closer to my goal. I am now finishing high school and consider it the perfect opportunity to take a year to fulfill my dream before moving on with my plans to study nutrition and dietetics in the United States. I have spoken English my entire life, and have only attended schools where the language of instruction is English. Currently, I take the highest level of English that the International Baccalaureate (IB) program offers, and will graduate with a bilingual diploma. I enjoy teaching others, language being one of the subjects that I enjoy teaching, and have volunteered for years at a kindergarten where the children are also taught in English. I want to become an Au Pair and Live-in Tutor because I believe that it would be a wonderful opportunity for me to use my talents as a way of achieving my goal of learning Italian and experiencing a year abroad before university. I am a hard worker who always goes above and beyond, I am also a people person who knows how to interact well with others, and I am a very cooperative person who aims to make the most of every situation. I hope you will consider me to be your Au Pair and/or Live-in Tutor!
