Grace, auxiliaire parentale - CT1 Canterbury

Hi! I'm Gracie. I'm 21 years old and a graduate of CCCU. My degree is in Education Studies and during my time away from University I worked as a Playworker in a Breakfast and After School Club with children ages 3-11. I also have experience in the Nursery with 1-2 year old children. I have a 3 & a half year old niece who I have looked after since she was a little baby. I believe that I am a funny, friendly and caring individual who has always had a passion for working with children. My ultimate goal is to one day become a Primary school teacher. Before this I want to gain as much experience as possible with children before I apply for my PGCE. I am living in Canterbury and would like to work locally. In my previous role as a Playworker I would have the responsibility of handling groups of children where I would create exciting activities and games. I believe that I found my specialty to be in creating fun and exhilarating art activities for the children. I would use a range of various resources each day to keep the children motivated and engaged. When working alongside the children I would assist them in creating paintings, pop-up books, posters and cards to take home to their families. When I would plan out my weekly routine on the rota, I would ask the children at the beginning of the week if they had any ideas or contributions they would want me to include in my art and game activities. I believe that it is important to make sure children have the most fulfilling experience possible and they are always learning new things whilst having fun. Alongside the fun games and activities, I would also help to complete homework with the children that they were set from school in one-on-one sessions. I would then report back to their parents where I felt that the child was improving and where they were struggling. Overall, I believe that my previous work experience and university degree has enabled me to become an extremely organised, time-efficient and passionate individual. I will always work to the best of my ability. I believe that working alongside children on a daily basis offering support, guidance and teaching new skills and activities is one of the most rewarding and fulfilling jobs that there is.
