35 years ago, as a newly qualified secondary school teacher, I chose to work as a Life Skills Tutor with unemployed young people who had failed within mainstream education and, subsequently, with disaffected young people within a Community School; roles which shaped my career as a lifelong educator. After a career break as a full-time Mum, in 2000 I moved into Further Education where Childcare became my specialism.
I find that, at every level, difficulties with reading, interpreting and writing English impact learning and I am drawn to help people who struggle in this way. Years of communicating with learners, my own children and foreign friends, plus being an active listener, have made me very empathetic and intuitive when identifying: levels of understanding, difficulties learners have and concerns about admitting them.
I am patient and resourceful, finding alternative ways to convey information to ensure understanding and motivate, am reliable, conscientious and methodical and find my good sense of humour helps a lot. It gives me a real buzz when I can help people to learn and witness their increased confidence and personal development.
Garde partielle / périscolaire | $10,10 de l’heure |
£10 would be my minimum rate per hour. As a qualified secondary school teacher, with 35 years experience within education, and as mother of three 'nearly grown up' children, I would bring to the childcare role a wealth of experience as a lifelong educator. I would therefore ideally look to earn at least £15.00 per hour.
