My name is Lucy and I am a mum to three grown up children aged from 22 years to 15 years. I have worked with children for the majority of my career in a number of settings including educational and social care settings (eg children's homes).

I am looking for a part time position preferably on a self employed basis for about 10 hours a week. I am educated to a good standard and am currently studying for a degree at university. Due to my own experience as a parent and an education professional, I strongly believe that the relationship between any school and family is a partnership and so I am keen to support children with their reading and any homework. In my positions in schools, I have had experience of supporting students throughout the curriculum including Science, Maths and English. My last post was offering pastoral support / counselling to children who were experiencing difficulties within the home or within school. Using a variety of activities including art, role play and social skills games, I enabled children to examine their issues and express the feelings they had otherwise been unable to due to not having the vocabulary.

I strongly believe in positive reinforcement to address any behavioral issues and as I thoroughly enjoy working with children, I like to create a fun atmosphere but with strong boundaries to encourage a sense of security which is imperative for the over all well being of the child.

I would like for any parent to feel I was supportive of the way their home was run and would not want anyone to feel I was not listening to their preferences. I am very happy to take instruction on the way the home is run and feel that my role is very much a background role in order for my presence to not be disruptive to family life.
