I am an English speaking mature mother of four three of whom live away from home.
I am a qualified nursery nurse, level 3 with certificates in first aid and DBS, and am happy to look after pre schoolers and primary aged children on a part time basis during the week. References can be supplied.
I do not work during the school holidays other than evening
babysitting by arrangement and some notice will be required; however I am happy to babysit along side week days if i am available.
I am very fond of children;Having a genuine interest in them, their moods, feelings and general view of life is very important. Some children may have other ongoing situtions in the background and it's important to handle these things with sensitivity. It's a quality that makes each child feel nurtured, instead of feeling invisible and going through the motions. Having knowledge of the EYFS, (also used in early years education within a school environment, ) I have observed that planning activities around children and allowing them to lead with encouragement can make the difference between enjoying it and disliking it.Being a good listener and communicator assists this process and should keep a child happy to involve themselves with care and at their own pace. However, I am also fun, love story telling and getting into charater, have lots of common sense, enjoy the great outdoors as I previously trained as a garden designer/horticulturist. I taught young children the importance of gardening/growing your own, aimed at healthy eating, food and nutrition.
Making use of the resources around the home, garden and walks etc can keep a child happily occupied. I don't mind swimming, childrens cookery, car trips out and am also pet friendly.
Music is another area that I really enjoy having achieved several grades on the piano. I'm no concert pianist but understand the keyboard, manuscript and rudiments of theory. In my possession is also an electric guitar and african djembe.
I recognise the importance of safe guarding, monitoring an unwell child, including the recording and administering of medicine. I wouldn't hesitate to contact a parent/medical person should any concerns arise and to keep them informed and advise/receive advice where necessary. Being absolutely trustworthy and sensible with a desire to watch a child grow and develop is why I do this job.
